Janir Ramos da Cruz, Ph.D.

Janir leads the design of ABILITY's neural decoding and AI architecture, translating cortical activity into communication. He sets the strategic direction for ABILITY's BCI applications, leads the integration of advanced algorithms and AI models into the platform, and contributes hands-on to signal processing and machine learning development. He oversees end-to-end software development in compliance with IEC 62304 and the documentation that supports regulatory submissions and audits. His work is deeply collaborative. He partners closely with clinicians, researchers, end-users, and internal teams to define requirements and prioritize roadmaps, while fostering relationships with external research institutions and the broader neurotechnology community. He advocates for human-centered design, bringing UX principles into algorithmic and interface work. Janir holds a dual PhD in Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering.
