The Implant
A fully implantable device that captures cortical activity with high fidelity — no external hardware on the skull, no wires through the skin.
Designed for life
The ABILITY implant is a permanently implanted, medical-grade, hermetically sealed device designed for long-term implantation. High-density ECoG electrode arrays capture cortical signals and feed them to the implant on the skull, which transmits all high-fidelity neural data wirelessly through the skin to the external wearable for decoding and application.
Unlike penetrating electrode systems, ECoG electrodes rest on the brain surface without puncturing or damaging neural tissue — offering a safer profile and proven long-term stability.
All electronics are fully contained within the implant housing — an <5mm thin device — including signal amplification, digitization, and an optical transmitter that sends data via laser, discreetly through the skin.
Key features
Fully Implantable
No percutaneous connectors or external skull-mounted hardware. The entire device sits beneath the skin.
Battery-Free
The implant contains no battery. It is externally powered through its inductive interface, eliminating the need for replacement surgery for the lifetime of the implant.
ECoG Electrodes
High-density electrode array placed on the cortical surface captures neural signals with high-fidelity and long-term stability.
Optical Data Link
Wireless optical transmission through the skin eliminates the need for wired connections, reducing infection risk and improving quality of life.
ABILITY Implant in numbers
The only fully implantable BCI transmitting full raw neural data, lossless, through the skin — at a bandwidth that unlocks the full repertoire of cortical function, from speech to movement and beyond.
